1 min read
The Searchlight Museum, opened in 1989, explores the history of the mining, ranching and railroad town about an hour south of Las Vegas. Famous residents of Searchlight profiled in the museum include Nevada Senator Harry Reid, Hollywood clothing designer Edith Head, actors Rex Bell and Clara Bow, who established a ranch in the area, and William Nellis, for whom Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas is named. Searchlight at one point exceeded Las Vegas in population. To learn more, please visit ClarkCountyNV.gov.
