Clark County Commission Vice Chair Justin Jones and Commissioner Michael Naft joined former U.S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkeley who now is the CEO and Senior Provost for Touro University and Shannon Proctor, executive director of the American Lung Association’s Nevada office to flip the switch and signal the kickoff of "Turquoise Takeover Week" in the Las Vegas Valley. The goal is to raise awareness about lung cancer and survival rates for patients diagnosed early. The changing of the color of lights on the Welcome sign celebrated the ninth year that Women’s Lung Health Week has been recognized in the country, intensifying the focus on overall lung cancer awareness for everyone. Lung cancer is the leading killer of Americans, outpacing those who succumb to colon, breasts and prostate cancer deaths.
County commissioners presented Proctor with a proclamation. Learn more about lung cancer and ways to be proactive about your health by visiting the website at www.lung.org.
